Wood for the winter156 viewsBurning wood logs are the main source of heat for the cold season around here (in this house). The wood is being dried in these piles and then taken to the basement for the winter, from where it is brought up again as needed.

Kale :D200 viewsHere is a kale leaf and one leaf of purple curly kale. As the season doesn't last long, but while it's on there is an abundance of leaves I decided to freeze some so that I could use them later also in my smoothies :) I rinse them, allow them to dry some, then remove the stems and tear leaves into a bit smaller pieces. Then I freeze them in about single or double layers in the freezer, and then I put the pieces into boxes where I store them until I use them. I'll have plenty for the winter now ;)
